How can I get away to respond to disasters?
As a fire fighter my schedule is 24 hours on, then 48 hours off. If I take off one day, I actually get five days in a row, 2 days off gets me 8 days, and 3 days gets me 11 days off and so on. I use my vacation time, personal days and trade time with co-workers (I work for them so they can work for me when I need the time). My communication tower & flagpole customers understand what I do and most of the time they wait for me to get back to do their service work.
